The Cop Bot is an Electronic NPC that mostly appears in Uptown. Unlike most Characters, their body and head has a unique shape, being more blocky and robotic.
NPC Behavior[]
Cop Bots only appear patrolling in Uptown, but can also spawn if a hacker installed malware on the floor, and passing through the blue laser or by destroying it without disabling it at the guard house and security checkpoint in Mayor Village.
A Group of roughly 5 Cop Bots will spawn in each level of Uptown and each Cop Bot will stay in a general area. Like a Security Camera, you can see their vision (the distance is misleading). And the color of their vision means they are patrolling for different things:
- Yellow vision means the Cop Bot is looking for players who don't have the trait, Upper-Crusty. The Cop Bot will take you to the Deportation Center if you are spotted, unless you have Upper-Crusty.
- Purple vision means they are searching for Drugs and Alcohol. If you are spotted with them, the items will be sent to the Confiscation Center.
- Green vision means the Cop Bot is looking for players with a Laptop, or a threat to the Mayor Village. Once detected they will become hostile to the Laptop user or Mayor Village threat.
- Cyan vision means they are looking for prohibited weapons. They will also be sent to the Confiscation Center. These prohibited weapons include:
If you are seen by a Cop Bot and you meet the criteria of their vision, you will be approached by it and it will ask you to either give the items to it or go to the Deportation Center. If you don't comply after a certain amount of time, the Cop Bot will become Hostile. If you attempt to drop or use an item the Cop Bot wants to confiscate, it will respond 'Nice try!' and immediately become Hostile.
Drops[]
Flamethrower
Machinegun
Shotgun
Police Baton (earlier levels only)
Pistol (earlier levels only)
Notes[]
- The scanning vision range of a Cop Bot is not the same range as its actual sight. This means a Hostile Cop Bot will attack you at the same distance as other NPCs would, which is much greater than it's scanning vision range would suggest.
- Cop Bots are not considered to be human and cannot be affected by Special Abilities that require flesh and blood targets such as Bite, Cannibalize, and Possess. Likewise they are unaffected by Jokes since they lack humor.
- Cop Bots can also be hacked, but beware they will track your location while you are hacking them. Hacking a Cop Bot gives you the option make it go haywire, enraging the Cop Bot.
- Doing so will also unlock the Robot character.
- Water damages Cop Bots including bodies of water, puddles, and from the Water Cannon special ability.
- Cop Bots are instantly killed by EMP such as EMP Grenades and the Power Sap special ability.
- Cop Bots only attempt to confiscate/deport from players, ignoring followers, non upper-crusty NPCs, and even Drug Dealers unless already hostile towards them for other reasons.
Tips and Strategies[]
- The Endurance of the Cop bots isn't that strong, making them easy to kill. However, they are usually accompanied by Supercops and other Cop Bots, when a Cop Bot dies, they will create a small explosion a moment later, alerting nearby Supercops and other Cop Bots to investigate the noise, and they usually have dangerous weapons such as Machineguns, Flamethrowers or Shotguns equipped.
- In earlier floors such as Slums or Industrial, Cop Bots will have weaker weapons such as Police Batons and Pistols, but Cops in those stages will assist them in fights. Once you reach the Park they begin using more deadly weapons such as Flamethrowers and Shotguns.
- If you want to Hack a Cop Bot to Enrage it, it's not a bad idea to have the trait Nimble Fingers to hack them faster. If you're playing as a Hacker, getting Speed Coder instantly hacks them.
- Cop Bots camera vision will ignore you if you have the trait Camera Shy, under a Cardboard Box, or riding a Mech (which bestows Cops Don't Care trait). This can allow you to walk past them without getting your items confiscated or deported.
- Getting a Cardboard Box will make the Big Quest Hack the Planet much easier, allowing you sneak past the Cop Bots tracking you down.
- Cop Bots are resistant to almost all Status Effects. They are however still fooled by Hologram Bigfoots.
- Cop Bots are resistant to items that affect Alignment such as the Haterator, Cologne and the trait Charismatic. If you do manage to make a Cop Bot Friendly, they will not attempt to confiscate items or deport you (The same goes for loyal and aligned.) This can be achieved by playing as/possessing a Supercop or an Upper-Cruster.
- Cop bots however are Neutral, not Friendly, towards players who are playing as a Cop, and they will still Deport or Confiscate items from them.
- If a player is a supercop, then they can use the alignment to their advantage and walk past Cop Bots without fear of deportation or confiscation.
- If a player is Upper-Crusty, they won't be deported or have things confiscated.

Trivia[]
- Gibbed cannot affect Robots or Electronic characters (including Cop Bots and the Killer Robot). It's unclear if this is because they are immune to status effects, or for the sake of realism, or both.
- Since dead robots can't be gibbed, there is no way to bypass the post-death explosion caused by a dead Cop Bot or Killer Robot.
- In the early Chinese version of the game, Cop Bots were simply just renamed to Enforcer Bots.
