Debt is a unique status effect in Streets of Rogue. It is gained from Borrowing money from various people. This effect doesn't have a time limit. Rather, It lasts as long as you don't pay back the Debt. For every level you don't pay off your Debt, the debt increases. If your debt is above $250, you can no longer borrow Money.

Notes

• You can pay off debt at any Clerk in a Bank or at an ATM.

• For each loan borrowed, Debt increases by roughly 20% each level for 2 levels. After 2 levels, the Debt won't increase for that particular loan.
  • Once you are no longer gaining interest, Assassins will spawn. 1 Assassin will spawn for roughly every $45 in Debt. This number can range a bit depending on how many Loans you took.

• Debt cannot be removed by using a Toilet.

• In Uptown 3 money can no longer be borrowed. The Clerk will say "Sorry we don't do "loans' in this district"
