Fire Watch is the Big Quest for the Firefighter (and can also be chosen for Custom Characters).
In this quest, you must prevent arsonists from destroying walls and objects by either extinguishing the fire(s) or killing them before they get the chance to set them. Incinerated objects must be less than 3 per level, less than 9 per district, and less than 45 for the entire run.
Arsonists[]
"Arsonist" is not a class. It is a behavior that will be adopted by a random NPC near the Firefighter at random times on each level. When this happens, the arsonist NPC will equip a Molotov Cocktail (the weapon equip noise will be heard) and an orange arrow will appear above them. They will then begin to move very quickly to nearby buildings and throw their Molotov Cocktail to create fires. After doing this 2-3 times, the NPC will unequip their Molotov Cocktail and resume their normal behavior. A maximum of 2 arsonists can appear each level. Cops and Supercops cannot become arsonists.
Super Special Ability[]
While playing as the Firefighter after completing Fire Watch, with Super Special Abilities (Mutator) enabled:
- Fire doesn't damage you.
- Water Cannon has infinite ammo, destroys bullets, and much greater knockback.
Tips and Strategies[]
- Technically speaking, this quest is 100% complete the moment you start playing as a Firefighter. As long as you don't exceed 45 incinerated objects by the end of Uptown (5-3) you will be able complete this quest.
- Always keep your Water Cannon as full as possible in case of a sudden fire outbreak.
- NPC Firefighters will help you put out fires as normal. However, they may not be quick enough to avoid all damage so do not rely on them.
- Complete each level quickly to give less opportunities for arsonists to spawn. It is not necessary to "activate" or kill the arsonists on each level.
- Arsonist behavior is not predetermined. Meaning you cannot "guess" which NPC in a group is going to become an arsonist before hand.
- Arsonists will not create fires endlessly. Prioritize putting out their fires unless you can kill them VERY quickly.
- Cops and Supercops will not become Hostile if you attack an arsonist, but they will not help you either.
- On Park, there are many more flammable objects that are easily burned, so be more alert on these floors.
- There are no fire hydrants on Park floors, you'll have to rely on pure water ponds (no status effects) to refill your cannon.
- This also means that there is no way to refill your cannon on floor 3-2, as the ponds are frozen. Keep your cannon filled before moving on to 3-2.
- In case you run out of water in your cannon, keep your Fire Extinguisher handy. Reserve it for situations where you can't get to water in time.
