Guard Duty is the Big Quest for the Goon (and can also be chosen for Custom Characters). In this quest, you must protect the owners of specific buildings from Hostile invaders attacking on every floor throughout your run. Talking to the owner marked by the arrow and selecting "Protect the turf!" will begin the raid of invaders, who are all armed and hostile towards you and all owners of the property.
The Difficulty increases each level and the number of invaders increases. The owners will be initially Friendly and protecting the turf will turn them Aligned. If the owner giving you the quest dies or is Hostile or Annoyed towards you before you begin the raid, the quest will find another building to protect. The floor's Big Quest is considered complete when all invaders are neutralized; the owners don't necessarily have to be alive at the end of it, but the player will be rewarded $50 per surviving owner at the end of the raid.
Super Special Ability[]
While playing as the Goon after completing Guard Duty, with Super Special Abilities (Mutator) enabled:
- Become a Supergoon, your jacket's color changes to red and you gain +1 Endurance, +1 Speed, and +1 Firearms.
Tips and Strategies[]
- It's best to stock up in equipment and gear before on doing this quest.
- This quest's difficulty varies depending on the building and the number of owners, later on it becomes much harder to keep many of the owners alive.
- The Invaders are random and can be Slum Dwellers, Workers, Thieves, Cannibals, Soldiers, Mobsters, Bouncers, Jocks, Assassins, Wrestlers and even other Goons and Supergoons will appear as invaders attacking the turf.
- The Invaders weapons are also randomized. Don't be surprised to see a wrestler appear with a Pistol or a worker with a Revolver or a Flamethrower.
- You don't need the owners to be alive for the quest to complete. You just have to neutralize all the invaders, but you won't get any money rewards from it.
- In some levels there won't be any building that needs to be protected and the floor is "clear" automatically, but you will not receive big quest XP for the floor. The floor will still give stage XP bonus however. This mostly happens in the Park and the Slums or in some Disaster Levels.
- In certain Disasters it'll be very difficult or almost impossible to keep many of the owners alive in War Zones, Zombie Invasions and Shifting Status Effects.
