Hack the Planet "Install malware on a computer." Hack the Planet is the Big Quest for the Hacker (and can also be chosen for Custom Characters). In this quest, you must install malware on a Computer on every floor throughout your run. Doing so triggers 8 Cop Bots to spawn and look for the player.

Installing Malware

It can be done through any of these:

•  Laptop (special ability)
•  Hacking Tool (item)
• Walking up to the  Computer and using it directly

Alarm/Effects

After installing malware, the following will immediately happen:

• You lose the ability to teleport (unless you have the trait Teleport-Happy).

• 8 Cop Bots will spawn. 4 from the level entrance and 4 from the level exit.

• These Cop Bots will begin to patrol the level. If you are caught in their scanner, they will become Hostile.

• 2 of the Cop Bots that spawn will go to the computer you hacked, and 2 of them will go to where you hacked it from.

Super Special Ability

While playing as the Hacker after completing Hack the Planet, with Super Special Abilities (Mutator) enabled:

• Hacking doesn't cause people to become Hostile, hacking takes no time, most hackable objects can be blown up.

Tips and Strategies

• This quest can pretty difficult for the unprepared. Due to the Hacker's poor combat ability, attempting to take the Cop Bots head on will likely end in death or heavy damage.

• The scanner of Cop Bots will not detect you if you are wearing a Cardboard Box - consider using these to make a stealthy exit.

• If you get caught or are not confident in your ability to dodge the scanners, you can hack the Cop Bots to make them go haywire, then lure them to other NPCs to make them fight.

• Unlike many Big Quests, you should install malware AFTER you complete every mission on a level and you are ready to leave. Trying to complete missions with the Cop Bots patrols can be extremely difficult.

• Make sure to keep at least one Computer intact to install the malware on. If every Computer is destroyed, you will not be able to complete the Big Quest.

• Rarely, a level will spawn without a computer. If this occurs the Big Quest will be immediately completed and no Cop Bots will spawn.

• The Cop Bots are identical to the ones that appear in Uptown but they spawn with different weapons depending on the area.
