Lasers are a hazardous object in Streets of Rogue, found in various types of buildings as part of their security system(s). They always appear between a pair of Laser Emitters. When anything touches the laser, it reacts depending on its color.

Variants[]

Yellow[]

When triggered, the Laser Emitter sets off an alarm that's always heard by the owner of the area, as well as any guards inside.

Red[]

When triggered, both Laser Emitters will blow up with a small explosion, dealing 30 damage over a 5-tile-wide area and making noise, usually alerting the building inhabitants.

Blue[]

Found in Downtown and Uptown, when triggered, the Laser Emitter will set off an alarm that alerts the owner of the area and any guards inside. Unlike the yellow laser, players can freely pass through blue lasers if you aren't carrying weapons. There's always at least one Bouncer in front of a blue laser, and you can talk to them to temporarily drop your weapons in order to freely pass through the laser.

Tips and Strategies[]

  • You can get around the red laser fine if you use some sort of projectile or thrown item on the laser. It will still make noise, and alert the owners.
    • However the explosions can be a great way to neutralize someone or to destroy walls.
    • You can do the same with yellow lasers, but there is no real point as it will activate anyway.
  • You can also use the Computer within a building to remove lasers. Either interact with the computer and choose [Turn off Security System] or destroy the computer.
  • With the trait Graceful, you will be able to pass through lasers without triggering them.
  • Interacting with the Laser Emitter while carrying a Wrench will give you the option to disable the laser.
