Melee is an attribute in Streets of Rogue. It determines the strength and damage of attacks with fists and melee weapons, for all characters (playable and non-playable). It impacts the following:

  • Melee damage (obviously)
  • Damage dealt with Fists
  • Amount of knockback applied when hitting other characters with melee
  • Likelihood of knocking targets through walls with a melee hit
  • Potential to destroy some objects/walls outright (usually applies to the Sledgehammer)

Destroying Objects

If enough damage is dealt in a single melee strike against some objects which are normally only damaged rather than destroyed (such as windows), they may be completely destroyed with the attack. In the case of windows, this would mean no need to traverse the broken glass (thereby avoiding HP damage in the process). Some weaker walls can also be destroyed in this way.

Attribute Modifiers

There are a number of ways to directly increase the Melee attribute:

Notes

  • Characters who are Near-Harmless can only deal 1 damage with their fists, and cannot use melee weapons (or any other weapons). No status effects or items of any kind will allow a Near-Harmless character to do more than 1 damage per fist strike.
